SkyTV Streaming First Episode of ‘The Last of Us’ For Free on YouTube

If the record viewership and star Pedro Pascal hosting SNL isn’t enough to get you to tune in to HBO’s adaptation of The Last of Us, SkyTV has given UK-based viewers an incentive. The UK-based network is hosting the first episode of the hit series on its YouTube channel for free.

Unfortunately for those living outside of the UK, you won’t be able to stream “The Last of Us” from SkyTV by normal means. Hopefully, HBO here in North America decides to give the rest of us a treat and host the first episode.

And really, it’s kind of a no-brainer. The show’s viewership increased for episode 2, adding one million viewers to the debut episode’s 4.7 million for a total of 5.7 million. So, having more eyeballs on the first episode would only increase incentive to sign up for a subscription, right?

HBO’s “The Last of Us” takes place twenty years after modern civilization has been destroyed. Joel (Pedro Pascal), a hardened survivor, is hired to smuggle Ellie (Bella Ramsey, “Game of Thrones”), a 14-year-old girl, out of an oppressive quarantine zone. What starts as a small job soon becomes a brutal, heartbreaking journey, as they both must traverse across the U.S. and depend on each other for survival.

Alongside Pascal and Ramsey, the series also stars Gabriel Luna (Terminator: Dark Fate) as Tommy, the brother of Joel. Storm ReidAnna TorvJeffrey Pierce, Nick Offerman, Merle Dandridge, Nico Parker, Murray Bartlett and Con O’Neil will also star in the series, alongside video game voice actors Troy Baker and Ashley Johnson.

Craig Mazin (“Chernobyl”) developed the series for HBO, and worked directly alongside Naughty Dog’s Neil Druckmann to write and executive produce the adaptation.
