SCREAMBOX July: Death Metal Horror ‘Welcome to Hell’, Documentary ‘Pennywise: The Story of IT’, Cartoon Classic ‘Toxic Crusaders’, and More!

The horror floodgates are about to open as Bloody Disgusting has been working feverishly to bring you hot new horror titles, only available on our SCREAMBOX streaming platform.

As you probably learned last week, we’re going HAM, having just acquired the slasher sequel Terrifier 2, which is going to knock your teeth out this fall.

Until then, we’re kicking it into full gear, starting with a bunch of kickass horror this July.

You’re going to hail Satan after witnessing the Argentinian horror Welcome to Hell (Bienvenidos al Infierno), which follows a terrified mother-to-be who is desperate to escape her murderous ex that’s part of a satanic death metal band.

The ultra gory satanic horror will arrive on SCREAMBOX and VOD platforms this coming July 12, 2022.

Meanwhile, the hotly-anticipated documentary Pennywise: The Story of IT is coming exclusively to SCREAMBOX on July 26 after a short theatrical run on July 8.

An in-depth look at the 1990 mini-series based on Stephen King’s novel, the film had its world premiere at the Sitges International Fantastic Film Festival in Spain and its UK premiere at FrightFest last fall before landing stateside for its US premiere at Panic Fest in May.

Pennywise: The Story of IT will play Boston’s Coolidge Corner Theatre on July 8 and the Columbus Theatre in Providence, RI, on July 9 (other theatrical engagements to be confirmed) before releasing on VOD and SCREAMBOX on July 26.

Outside the two brand new films, we also have a handful of repertory classics that are being added to the service, highlighted by the Troma cartoon classic, Toxic Crusaders, also on July 8th.

Felix wrote about the series here on Bloody, detailing the birth of the short-lived kids-friendly cartoon show which borrows from the gross-out 1980s Troma masterpiece in which a nerd, after falling into toxic waste, develops superpowers and uses them to fight environmental crime.

Here’s everything you need to know about SCREAMBOX’s July arrivals!

Welcome to Hell

“Desperate to escape the dangerous and deadly leader of a satanic death metal band, mother-to-be Lucia moves to a remote cabin in the forest with her grandmother. Though safe in her surroundings, she is haunted by his memory and knows he will stop at nothing to track her down.”

The Argentinian horror film, directed by Jimena Monteoliva (Clementina), premiered at Sitges Film Festival in Spain before screening at the Buenos Aires International Film Festival.

Pennywise: The Story of IT

Pennywise: The Story of IT, which is co-directed by John Campopiano (Unearthed & Untold: The Path to Pet Sematary) and Christopher Griffiths (Leviathan: The Story of Hellraiser) and produced by Gary Smart (Dark Ditties Presents), captures not only the spark the IT saga created when it was released but also the lasting impact it has had on an entire generation and the horror genre at large.

Several years in the making, the film features exclusive interviews with many of the cult classic’s key players, from cast members Richard Thomas, Seth Green, and Tim Curry, who portrayed the notorious monster clown Pennywise, to director Tommy Lee Wallace and special effects makeup artist Bart Mixon.
