‘Resident Evil’ Meets ‘The Last of Us’ in Atmospheric Horror Game ‘The Road of Dust and Sorrow’ [Trailer]

After scooping up publishing rights for Goodwin Games’ bicycle-centred horror title Quite a Ride, Silver Lining Interactive has snagged publishing duties for another unique title in Painted Black Games’ upcoming 2D short-yet-intense atmospheric horror title The Road of Dust and Sorrow.

Mashing up elements of The Last of Us with Resident Evil, the story-focuesd The Road of Dust and Sorrow sports gorgeous pixel graphics, and centres on the end of humanity. A remedy engineered to end hunger has had the unfortunate side effect of turning people into ravenous addicts known as Dusters. Ten years after humanity’s fall, Katherine and her daughter Ava wander the ruins of civilization, clinging to a fragile hope for a better future.

However, as these things go, the Dusters aren’t the only monsters out there. An ominous preacher and his cult have taken interest in the two wanderers, seeking to satisfy an ancient hunger that sees humans as fertile soil.

As Katherine, you must make your way through decaying streets, bloodthirsty Dusters, locked rooms, and forgotten corridors to search for the means of your salvation. The risk is just as great as the reward, as every door could mean salvation… or your end.

No matter what, you must keep Ava alive. You can lose the world, but you can’t lose her. Every step on your journey drags you deeper into a place that wants you broken. You must fight or run to survive in order to reach Sanctuary.
