Record Store Day: Five Exclusive Horror OSTs to Pick Up Tomorrow!

In 2022, there is only one Record Store Day, and it takes place tomorrow, April 23. The annual celebration of bands, beer, fun, and all things record store-related brings a slew of special vinyl releases, limited editions, and Record Store Day exclusives. That includes highly coveted OSTs for the horror fan.

The caveat to Record Store Day exclusives is that you cannot order them online; you physically must purchase in person and support your local participating record store.

Because there are hundreds of unique releases, we’ve narrowed them down to the horror movie-specific releases you won’t want to miss.

These five horror OSTs deliver the perfect blend of gorgeous limited vinyl with earworm music.

May – Jammes Luckett

Terror Vision brings not one but two RSD exclusives this year, and you won’t want to miss out on either. Luckett’s music comes packaged with liner notes by May director Lucky McKee and Luckett, with art by Vanessa McKee. It’s a stunner. Terror Vision will also offer LTD cassettes and submit their RSD releases online if and when available. Head to their site and sign up for their mailing list to get notified.

Strange Behavior – Tangerine Dream

Two words: Tangerine Dream. The first-ever release of this legendary Tangerine Dream score from 1981, also known as Dead Kids. It’s never been available in any format until now! As with May, Terror Vision will also offer LTD cassettes and offer their RSD releases online if and when available. Head to their site and sign up for their mailing list to get notified.

Dead by Daylight V2 – Michel F April

Record Store Day Dead by Daylight

The second volume soundtrack to the popular multiplayer survival horror game becomes available in limited edition vinyl format. It makes sense, considering the first volume served as a 2021 RSD release—a special release for fans of the award-winning video game.

Blue Velvet – Angelo Badalamenti

Record Store Day Blue Velvet

The long available single LP has been expanded by 60 minutes to a 2 LP Deluxe Edition with the addition of the famous 1963 recording of “Blue Velvet,” performed by Bobby Vinton, and previously unreleased film cues, alternates, and outtakes entitled “Lumberton Firewood.” The liner notes by Tim Greiving include new interviews with David Lynch, Angelo Badalamenti, Kyle MacLachlan, and producer Fred Caruso. It’s all housed in gorgeous packaging with blue swirl vinyl.

Mimic – Marco Beltrami

Record Store Day Mimic

Mimic is the second film composed by Marco Beltrami, fresh off scoring Scream. Available for the first time on vinyl, the soundtrack features new, original artwork and a triptych jacket design which displays the creature’s multiple faces—pressed on green vinyl.
