‘Quake’ Remaster Receives New Horde Mode And Free Add-On in New Update

Quake fans are getting more goodies with the recently-released remaster. Not only have MachineGames and Nightdive managed to restore a level cut from the original game, but now fans can enjoy a brand-new Horde Mode and add-on!

Update 2 adds MachineGames’ new Horde Mode, which allows for 1-4 players or bots in local multiplayer and online modes in one of four new maps. The rules are simple: Score points by killing enemies, with multi-kills netting you additional points. Every 3rd wave has boss monsters, but once you clear it, you get a Silver key to unlock more weapons and items. The beatings continue until the 9th wave, where you have the option to exit, or continue fighting.

Also new is the “Honey” add-on, again created by MachineGames. This new content features you tromping through waterlogged crypts and underground temples while combating a deadly plague. The add-on makes specific use of fog and lighting effects, so take care where you tread.

The update also adds a few bug fixes and quality-of-life improvements, such as an improved auto aim to reduce amount of snapping and view locking onto enemies, and being able to change the crosshair colour and type from the Gameplay options menu.

Quake is also now available via the Epic Games Store, if you’re curious. You can also snag the remaster on the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch.
