In the film, Millie, trying to escape her past, accepts a position as a live-in housemaid for a wealthy family. But what begins as a dream job quickly unravels into something far more dangerous — a sexy, seductive game of secrets, scandal, and power.
Rebecca Sonnenshine (“The Boys,” “The Vampire Diaries”) wrote the script, based on Freida McFadden‘s 2022 novel of the same name.
Brandon Sklenar (Drop), Michele Morrone (Another Simple Favor), and Elizabeth Perkins (“Weeds”) round out the cast.
Feig produces alongside Todd Lieberman (The Fighter, Warm Bodies) and Laura Fischer. Executive producers include Sweeney, Seyfried, McFadden, Will Greenfield, Alexander Young, Carly Elter, and Jennifer Booth.
The Housemaid is rated R for “strong/bloody violent content, sexual assault, sexual content, nudity, and language.”
Meagan Navarro wrote in her review, “An endless string of dangerous secrets and an explosive performance by Seyfried keep you firmly on the hook until the pent-up tension explodes into insanity, as camp, violence, and empowerment collide.”
A sequel titled The Housemaid’s Secret is currently in development.
