Nicolas Cage Wants to Play a “Terrifying” Version of Batman Villain Egghead

We will soon get to see Nicolas Cage play Count Dracula in Universal’s Renfield, but what other classic villains would Cage like to play? Well, for starters, Batman villain Egghead!

At SXSW over the weekend, Cage soft-pitched his dream comic book role.

“I’ve been thinking about this, because we have this new, Robert Pattinson as the Batman, which I’m excited to see but I haven’t seen it yet. The villain that Vincent Price played on the ’60s show, Egghead. I think I want to have a go at Egghead,” Cage told a reporter at SXSW. “I think I could make him absolutely terrifying. And I have a concept for Egghead.”

Cage adds with a smile, “So let them know over at Warner Bros. I’m down for Egghead.”

Believing himself to be “the world’s smartest criminal,” Egghead was indeed played by the late Vincent Price in the 1960s “Batman” series, a character created specifically for the show.

Price played Egghead in a handful of episodes. The character most recently appeared briefly in The LEGO Batman Movie, and has to date never appeared in a live action film.

Could we someday see Nicolas Cage as Egghead in a future Batman movie? It would be an inspired way to tap into the more obscure side of Gotham, to say the very least.

And we kind of need to see it. As soon as possible.
