New Totem Update for ‘Puppet Master: The Game’ Adds New Faction, New Game Modes and More

On the heels of the announcement that Saber Interactive would be ceasing development of new content for Evil Dead: The Game, October Games announced a new update for Puppet Master: The Game. The Totem Update adds a new puppet faction to the game, along with new skins, perks and more.

The Totem Faction is the new addition to Puppet Master, having been introduced to the film series in the form of Sutekh, the big bad from Puppet Master 4 and 5. You can swap them out with the puppets in any game mode, or fight against them in the two new game modes. The faction consists of five new characters, each with their own playstyle and characteristics. In addition, each character brings with them a host of additional skins.

As for those two new game modes, the update introduces The Puppet Master and Manhunt. The Puppet Master game mode sees one defending Puppet faction having to protect a single Human player from an attacking puppet faction. The Human must complete an objective to escape and win. The defending Puppet faction wins if the Human escapes, while the attacking Puppet faction wins when the Human is killed.

Manhunt, on the other hand, is a mode where two Human players have to complete an objective and escape while defending themselves from a team of attacking Puppets. The Humans must complete an objective to escape to win. The attacking Puppet faction wins when the Human player is killed.

On top of the new faction and game modes, the update also adds in new perks and tweaks. For example, Throwing Weapons can now damage vent covers and raven statues, and have crosshairs when aiming. You can also now play Thief mode by yourself against the Human bot.

“We sincerely hope that you and your friends will find enjoyment in the dedication, hard work, and heartfelt effort we have poured into this project effort that can only be compared to the blood, sweat, and tears we’ve shed,” reads the update from the developers. “However, this release is only the beginning of our journey.”

Puppet Master: The Game is currently in Early Access on PC via Steam, and can be played for free.
