Netflix’s Live Action “Resident Evil” Series Teaser Trailer Goes Heavy on Horror and Action

Netflix’s “Resident Evil” television series will debut globally on Netflix on July 14, 2022, and the franchise’s first ever live action series has unleashed its first teaser trailer today.

Netflix has promised that the series will “redefine the legendary horror franchise,” and the teaser only briefly hints at how with an intense, action-heavy horror montage.

You might spot a few recognizable beasties and motifs from the video game franchise in here. Chainsaws, zombies, creatures, and a whole lot of Umbrella Corp. up to no good.

If you look even closer, you might spot an interactive Easter egg or two that will lead to another teaser…

Netflix’s “Resident Evil” is set in: “2036 – 14 years after a deadly virus caused a global apocalypse, Jade Wesker fights for survival in a world overrun by the blood-thirsty infected and insane creatures. In this absolute carnage, Jade is haunted by her past in New Raccoon City, by her father’s chilling connections to the Umbrella Corporation but mostly by what happened to her sister, Billie.”

The 8-episodes series written/executive produced by Mary Leah Sutton, with producers also including Robert Kulzer, Oliver Berben, and Martin Moszkowicz of Constantin Film.

The original Capcom Resident Evil was released in 1996, launching an expansive video game and movie franchise that’s still going strong. It’ll be interesting to see how and where Netflix’s new series fits into that history.
