‘Morbius’: No Joke, Sony Shifts ‘Spider-Man’ Spinoff to an April 1, 2022 Release Date

After the massive success of Venom and its sequel, Venom: Let There Be Carnage, Columbia Pictures wasted little time hyping their next dark Spider-Man spinoff, Morbius, in which Jared Leto is transformed into a vicious, blood-sucking vampire. A “living vampire”, so to speak.

Originally set to sink its fangs into the big screen on January 29th, Sony has once again shifted its latest Marvel adaptation and will now release it in theaters everywhere on April 1, 2022.

Sony’s latest Spider-Man spinoff centers on Michael Morbius, a scientist who, in trying to find a cure for a rare blood disease, accidentally transforms himself into a living vampire. Though disgusted by his own bloodlust, he chooses to prey upon criminals he deems unworthy of life.

Just a few weeks ago, the studio shared a lengthy action-packed and extremely violent first clip from the comic book adaptation in which we see Leto transformed into a vampire for the very first time.

Daniel Espinosa directed the film, which is kinda funny considering his Life felt like a Venom prequel.
