Melissa McBride May Appear in “The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon” After All

Plans for “The Walking Dead” spinoff featuring fan favorite characters Daryl Dixon (Norman Reedus) and Carol Peletier (Melissa McBride) dramatically changed when it was announced a year ago that McBride was exiting the series. As AMC gears up for the Fall 2023 premiere of “The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon,” news that McBride may appear in the series after all arrives courtesy of “The Walking Dead: Dead City” star Jeffrey Dean Morgan.

Morgan took to Twitter today with an image of McBride and Reedus together in character, saying “Well well. We’re sorry Norman… fer talking oodles of shit to you when we thought melissa wasn’t doing show! Golly… this must of been in the works for ages! (Twas from start) Goddamn it’s great seeing these two together!”

The actor is referring to the blacklash that Reedus received over McBride’s departure, while indicating that McBride will reprise her role as Carol in some capacity with a photo from set.

As for what is officially confirmed, Anne Charrier (“The Last Deadly Mission”), Eriq Ebanouey (“Fox Hunt”), Laika Blanc Francard (“My Night”), Louis Puech Scigliuzzi, and Romain Levi (“The Tunnel”) have been cast as series regulars in “The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon.”

Clémence Poésy (The Essex Serpent) and Adam Nagaitis (Chernobyl) recently came on board the spinoff series in leading roles, starring alongside Norman Reedus.

“Set after the series conclusion of TWD, the Reedus-led offshoot finds the zombie apocalypse fan favorite transported across the Atlantic to France and a whole new level of a world gone mad. Poesy will play the female lead Isabelle, a member of a progressive religious group, who joins forces with Daryl on a journey across France and finds herself confronting her dark past in Paris. Nagaitis protrays Quinn, a displaced Brit who has become powerful in post-apocalyptic Paris as a black marketeer and the owner of the Demimonde, a sexy underground nightclub.”

David Zabel will serve as showrunner for the Daryl Dixon series.

Stay tuned for additional details as they arrive. In the meantime, “The Walking Dead: Dead City” premiered earlier this week. In his review, Noah Levine said of the spinoff, “The real draw of the show seems to come from the setting itself.”
