Get ready for more short nautical horror, thanks to developers Nicholas McDonnell and Mitchell Pasmans and their upcoming point & click survival horror game, Crabmeat. Launching on Steam on March 10th (with a time-limited launch discount as further incentive), you can check out the demo today, which features an early portion of the game.
The premise of Crabmeat is straightforward: You are a prisoner tasked with crabbing for priceless Southern King Crabs to pay off your debt to the Feudostate. Collect your quota within seven days, or risk permanent expatriation from the state for you and your family. To do so, you must navigate the harsh waters of the Antarctic, all the while defending your ship from the threats that lurk under the icy waters.
Since it’s just you on the ship, you’ll need to crew your crabbing vessel alone, maintain its components and navigate the waters. Sporting an experimental blend of first person and point and click gameplay, the entire game can actually be played with just your mouse. Over the course of its 2-3 hours of playtime, you’ll bait, place, winch and empty traps to bring in big hauls of crabs. But beware, as King Crab aren’t the only crustaceans you’ll encounter in this southern wasteland.
