Diablo Cody (Juno, Jennifer’s Body) is headed back into the horror genre with the upcoming Lisa Frankenstein, a film written by Cody and being directed by Zelda Williams.
Deadline reports that Kathryn Newton (Freaky) and Cole Sprouse (“Riverdale”) will lead the cast of Lisa Frankenstein for Focus Features, which has a really fun synopsis.
In Lisa Frankenstein, “Set in 1989, the film follows an unpopular high schooler who accidentally re-animates a handsome Victorian corpse during a lightning storm and starts to rebuild him into the man of her dreams using the broken tanning bed in her garage.”
Great plot, great title, great writer, great cast. We’ll be keeping our eye on this one!
Filming on the horror-comedy is expected to begin this summer.
Diablo Cody will also produce the movie alongside Mason Novick.
