Forbidden Fruits star Lili Reinhart is the latest to join The Mannequin, the upcoming serial killer thriller from Dangerous Animals filmmaker Sean Byrne, Deadline reports.

Reinhart joins previously announced cast member Melissa Leo (upcoming horror movie Passenger).

Plot details remain under wraps at this time, but The Mannequin is described as a “twisted, intense, and propulsive serial killer procedural” two-hander.

Byrne’s comments on the new cast addition suggest that Reinhart’s character will be at odds with Leo’s, who may be portraying the film’s killer. The filmmaker stated, “Lili has such a grounded, authentic screen presence that’s a captivating mixture of vulnerability, independence, intelligence, and courage. I honestly can’t think of a more committed and immersive screen pairing than Lili and the equally fearless Melissa Leo to take on a serial killer like no other.”

The filmmaker’s previous comments on Leo’s performance only further intrigue: “There have been other serial killer procedurals, but this is its own thrillingly deranged beast — twisted, intense, propulsive, and anchored by a fearless performance from Melissa Leo, building to a shocking twist you won’t see coming.”

Reinhart is coming off a witchy turn as the femme fatale in Meredith Alloway’s Forbidden Fruits. Byrne’s previous experimentations with serial killers in shark thriller Dangerous Animals and breakout feature The Loved Ones suggest we’re in for another vicious ride.

Producers on The Mannequin include William Woods, Maddy Falle for Page 12 Pictures Inc., and Kristian Moliere for Triptych Pictures.

Executive producers are Steven Schneider, Phil Hunt, Compton Ross, Charlie Kemball, and Jed Benedict for Sixth Dimension, Lili Reinhart and Catherine Hagedorn of Small Victory Productions, and Melissa Leo. 

The film comes from Studiocanal’s genre label Sixth Dimension, and production is slated to begin this summer.
