Lady Gaga Reportedly in Early Talks to Play Harley Quinn in ‘Joker’ Sequel

A deal hasn’t yet been made, but The Hollywood Reporter reports tonight that Lady Gaga is in early talks to join Todd Phillips‘ sequel Joker: Folie à Deux as Harley Quinn.

Joaquin Phoenix is expected to return in the sequel as Arthur Fleck/Joker, with the film’s version of Harley Quinn existing separate from the Margot Robbie version of the character.

THR reports, “Details on her character are being kept under wraps, but Joker is known for his on-off abusive relationship with Harley Quinn, his psychiatrist at the mental institution known as Arkham Asylum who falls in love with him and becomes his sidekick and partner in crime.”

According to the site, the Joker sequel may end up being a… musical?!

Folie à Deux,” for what it’s worth, is the term meaning “shared psychosis” or “shared delusional disorder,” which certainly seems to indicate that Harley Quinn will be included.

Todd Phillips and Scott Silver are writing the sequel to the hit 2019 movie.
