Kill on the Gridiron Today with ‘Mutant Football League 2’ on PC and Consoles [Trailer]

While Mutant League Hockey was my thing, you can’t deny that EA’s classic Mutant League Football had the same appeal for football fans. Digital Dreams Entertainment created their spiritual successor to the Sega Genesis classic in Mutant Football League back in 2017, and have now released the sequel, Mutant Football League 2.

Available now on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and PC via Steam, this 8-on-8 sports title blends the pick-up-and-play accessibility of arcade sports games with strategic depth and a “buttload” of monstrous mayhem.

In Mutant Football League 2, teams of Mutated Super-Humans, Monstrous Orcs, Skeletal Deadheads, and Armored BruiserBots are pit against each other in fantastical arenas packed with deadly traps and sinister hazards. Under your guidance, these mutants will rise from scrubs to legends, crushing the competition with style and savagery across the game’s single-player Season, Dynasty Supreme franchise mode, and online multiplayer. And for added nostalgic fun, legendary voice actor Tim Kitzrow (of NBA Jam and NFL Blitz fame) calls the bloody but hilarious play-by-play.

You’ll choose from over 35 MFL teams composed of maniacal mutant versions of pro football superstars — 32 pro-league teams and 3 minor league teams. MFL player cards also unlock historic players who can be signed in Free Agency. You can even create an original team and craft a legacy of your own. Evolve your team to unlock new armor sets, mutations, and weapons such as chainsaws, shotguns, and more. You can even use SkillRoid Boosts to give your players special abilities during a game.

Your ability to fashion your team doesn’t stop at the players. You can also design your team’s arena, strategically placing lethal hazards and manipulating the weather. Make your stadium into the kind of place where only your team loves to play, and everyone else just prays to survive.
