“Junji Ito Maniac” Makes the Leap to ‘Fortnite’ Today With New Maps [Trailer]

Well, this is a new one. Fans of “Junji Ito Maniac: Japanese Tales of the Macabre” (which is currently streaming now on Netflix) and Fortnite will now have the best of both worlds, as the animated series has made the leap to Epic’s battle royale game. Available today, players can experience five new maps in the game, created by Neighbor Metaverse Studios.

The Fortnite maps draws reference from some of the stories found in “Junji Ito Maniac: Japanese Tales of the Macabre”, including “Hanging Balloon,” “Tomie Photo,” “Soichi’s Beloved Pet,” “Tomb Town,” and “Headless Statue”. The series, which premiered last month, is based on various manga written by Ito, and features “a selection of 20 macabre masterpieces brimming with [Junji Ito’s] original worldview and fascinating characters drawn in his stunning style, including popular titles such as ‘Hanging Balloon’ and fan-favorite characters Tomie and Soichi”.
