Officially announced just yesterday, director Todd Phillips‘ sequel Joker: Folie à Deux will be arriving in theaters from Warner Bros. on October 4, 2024, and Lady Gaga has taken to social media today to confirm that she’s officially on board for the sequel in a huge co-starring role.
Joaquin Phoenix will be returning in the sequel as Arthur Fleck/Joker, with the film set to introduce a new version of Harley Quinn that is indeed being played by singer/actor Lady Gaga!
“Folie à Deux” is the term meaning “shared psychosis” or “shared delusional disorder,” which is needless to say a fitting title for a movie centered on Harley Quinn and the Joker.
From what we gather, the sequel will heavily feature a musical element, which is played up in this very first short teaser video that Gaga shared on social media this afternoon.
Filming on the new movie hasn’t yet begun so we of course haven’t been treated to any actual footage yet, but the teaser should whet your appetite for more. Watch it below!
Todd Phillips and Scott Silver are writing the sequel to the hit 2019 movie.
