James Wan and Simu Liu Untitled Techno-Thriller Gets Straight-to-Series Order from Peacock

Today at NBCUniversal’s TCA presentation, Peacock announced the straight-to-series order of four new scripted projects from Universal Studio Group that includes an untitled new techno-thriller series from horror master James Wan and starring actor Simu Liu (Barbie, Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings).

The untitled series, described as an espionage techno-thriller, hails from Creator/Writer/Executive Producer Thomas Brandon (Legacies).

About the series: “Five minutes in the future, a first-generation-American intelligence analyst Alexander Hale (Simu Liu) realizes his brain has been hacked, giving the perpetrators access to everything he sees and hears. Caught between his shadowy agency and the unknown hackers, he must maintain a performance 24/7 to flush out who’s responsible and prove where his allegiance lies.”

The series is executive produced by James Wan (The Conjuring Universe, Archive 81, M3GAN), Michael Clear (Archive 81, Swamp Thing, M3GAN) and Rob Hackett (Archive 81, I Know What You Did Last Summer) for Atomic Monster. Danielle Bozzone will oversee for Atomic Monster.

It’s not the only Peacock series in the works for James Wan, either. Peacock previously announced the straight-to-series order of contemporary horror thriller “Teacup,” which was announced initially as an Untitled series based on Robert McCammon‘s Stinger. The novel takes place during a single twenty-four-hour period in Inferno, Texas. Inferno is a town in trouble, driven to the brink by racial tension, gang violence, and a collapsing economy. But things can always get worse, and they do so with astonishing speed.

It’s also worth noting that “Teacup” shares the same executive producer credits as the new Untitled techno-thriller series from Wan and star Simu Liu.

Stay tuned for more news on this series as details arrive.
