Is Christmas Actually the Best Holiday for Horror Movies? [Halloweenies Podcast]

The holidays have hit Woodsboro, and the Halloweenies are about three drinks in at their delightfully delirious office Christmas party. VHS tapes are everywhere. There’s cake on the television. And, for god sake’s, where did Caffrey run off to? He was just here a second ago!

As you can see, things are a little wild and loose right now at the Halloweenies headquarters. We’re a month away from Scream, aka 5-Cream, and the Halloweenies are ready to egg some nog, rip open some gifts with the fury of a Haddonfield mob, and maybe even sing some carols with a cadence like Demon of Friday the 13th Part 5. Hold the enchiladas, please.

So, pardon their dust and rust as they wax nostalgic on 2021, hand out a few recs for each other, and answer your many, many holiday questions — like is Christmas the best time for horror? This ain’t no silent night, this ain’t no deadly night either. It’s just pure holiday fun, like the good ol’ days, back when we all used to work in offices and look forward to leaving ‘em.

Stream the episode below and stay tuned for their deep dive into Kevin Williamson’s The Faculty. New to the Halloweenies? Catch up with the gang by revisiting their essential episodes on past franchises such as Halloween, A Nightmare on Elm Street, and Friday the 13th via Apple Podcasts, Stitcher, Spotify, RadioPublic, Acast, Google Podcasts, and RSS.

You can also become a member of their Patreon, The Rewind, for hilariously irreverent commentaries (e.g. The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Gremlins, Child’s Play) and one-off deep dives on your favorite rentals (e.g. Saw, 28 Days Later, Manhunter, Near Dark). Each month promises something new and unexpected from the wildest corners of the genre.
