Hideo Kojima Says to Watch the ‘OD’ Teaser Trailer “100 Times” for a Hint About the Game

After the reveal of the teaser trailer for OD earlier this year, there are still plenty of questions regarding the game. And in typical Hideo Kojima fashion, the man himself has dropped another one of his cryptic hints. In this case, it involves watching the teaser. A lot.

In an interview with Nikkei Xtrend (and translated by GamesRadar+), Kojima refers to OD as no other kind of media, despite obviously being built within a game engine. According to Kojima, OD looks like horror upon first impressions, but the system it uses isn’t some regular system. “Everything is made in a game engine, and a game is a game, but it’s still a system like no other. That’s why we built a completely new medium together with Microsoft.”

Kojima states that he’s purposely keeping things vague in order to not have Xbox head Phil Spencer come down on him for revealing too much. However, Kojima also says that those interested in uncovering more about OD should go back and watch the teaser trailer. “I can’t say anything else or Mr Phil will be mad at me,” he says. “But actually, if you watch the teaser trailer many times there’s a hint. I really can’t say what it is, but if you watch it 100 times… At the end of the trailer it reads ‘for all players and screamers’. That’s also a big hint.”

What exactly this all means is anyone’s guess, though as he suggested, someone will invariably do the arduous task of combing through the teaser to uncover something.

Currently in development for the Xbox Series, OD will feature Sophia Lillis, Hunter Schafer, and the late Udo Kier.
