The seventh and eighth episodes of Max’s excellent animated prequel series “Gremlins: Secrets of the Mogwai” will be unleashed this week, and we’ve got an exclusive sneak peek.
This week, Bowen Yang (“Saturday Night Live”) enters the world of Gremlins!
The following exclusive clip is from Episode 8 and features a fun scene between Bowen Yang’s character (a celestial administrator) having a confrontation with the main villain, Riley Greene (voiced by Mathew Rhys) who is trying to capture Gizmo and his friends.
In Episode 8, “Never Hug a Mogwai”…
“Our heroes celebrate reaching the Mogwai homeland, but will this victory give Sam confidence when he needs it most?”
Episodes 7 and 8 will be available on Max this Thursday, June 15.
The half-hour animated series from WB Animation and Amblin TV is set in 1920s Shanghai and tells the story of how 10-year-old Sam Wing met the young Mogwai called Gizmo.
“A period piece set in 1920s Shanghai, the series reveals how a 10-year-old Sam Wing – who becomes the future shop owner Mr. Wing in the 1984 movie – met the young Mogwai called Gizmo. They strike up a lifelong friendship as Wing attempts to return Gizmo to his family, encountering and sometimes battling colorful monsters and spirits from Chinese folklore.
“Meanwhile, the two and street thief Elle are pursued by a power-hungry industrialist and his growing army of evil Gremlins.”
