‘Godzilla x Kong’ Just Became the Highest Grossing Monsterverse Movie of All Time

While many films have been struggling at the box office here in 2024, Legendary’s Monsterverse is showing no signs of slowing down. Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire, the fifth installment in the franchise universe that began with Godzilla 10 years ago, was a massive hit earlier this year, and now it’s officially the Monsterverse’s highest grossing movie of all time.

Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire just hit $570 million at the worldwide box office over the weekend, $200 million of which ($196.3 million, to be exact) was made here in the U.S.!

Here’s how it stacks up against the other four Monsterverse movies…

  • Godzilla (2014) – $524.9 million
  • Kong: Skull Island (2017) – $568.6 million
  • Godzilla: King of the Monsters (2019) – $387.3 million
  • Godzilla vs. Kong (2021) – $470.1 million
  • Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire (2024) – $570 million

Legendary and Warner Bros. are still all-in on the Monsterverse, for obvious reasons, with an untitled sixth movie already in development and TV show “Monarch” getting a second season.

Stay tuned for more on the ever-growing Monsterverse as we learn it.

Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire is now available at home.
