‘Get Me Doug Jones’ Documentary Will Explore In-Demand Creature Actor

Doug Jones is adding “documentary subject” to his lengthy resume, which includes pivotal creature roles in Pan’s Labyrinth, The Shape of Water, Hellboy, Hocus Pocus, Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer, “What We Do in the Shadows,” “Star Trek: Discovery,” and more.

Get Me Doug Jones aims to explore how an actor and mime went from humble beginnings in the American Midwest to becoming one of Hollywood’s most sought after performers when it comes to creating fantastic creatures in full body make-up & costumes.

Currently in production, the in-depth doc will showcase the incredible life that Jones has lived, not only focusing on his iconic career, but also on the deeply personal relationships he has held with family, friends, and fans.

Interviews have already been filmed with Hocus PocusBette Midler, David Kirschner, & Tony Gardner; Hellboy‘s Ron Perlman, Mike Mignola, & Mike Elizalde; “What We Do in the Shadows'” Harvey Guillén; “Star Trek: Discovery'”s Sonequa Martin-Green, Anthony Rapp, David Ajala, & Jayne Brook, “Falling Skies'” Noah Wyle, and more.

They’ve also spoken to TaMara Carlson Woodard (“The Mandalorian”), Douglas Tait (Freddy vs. Jason), Dane DiLiegro (Prey), Trevor Newlin (Alien: Romulus), Jason Liles (Godzilla: King of The Monsters), and film historian Leonard Maltin, along with Jones’ family, friends, and fans from around the world.

The documentary is directed by William Conlin (Making Apes: The Artists Who Changed Film), with Jones’ appearance manager Derek Maki (Aliens Expanded) serving as executive producer.

Due out in 2027, Get Me Doug Jones is currently raising funds on Kickstarter. Rewards include early copies of the film, exclusive merchandise, signed memorabilia, and more.
