Lili Reinhart (“Riverdale”) leads a bewitching cast and cult in the new teaser for the Diablo Cody-produced Forbidden Fruits from feature debut director Meredith Alloway.
Independent Film Company and Shudder will release Forbidden Fruits in theaters in 2026.
Forbidden Fruits follows “Free Eden employee Apple, who secretly runs a witchy femme cult in the basement of the mall store after hours – with fellow fruits Cherry and Fig. But when new hire Pumpkin challenges their ‘girl boss’ ways, the women are forced to face their own poisons or succumb to a bloody fate. “
Lola Tung (“The Summer I Turned Pretty”), Victoria Pedretti (“The Haunting of Hill House”), Alexandra Shipp (Tragedy Girls), Gabrielle Union (Breaking In), and Emma Chamberlain also star.
The film is an adaptation of playwright Lily Houghton’s stageplay Of the Women Came the Beginning of Sin and Through Her We All Die. Alloway and Houghton are co-adapting.
“Forbidden Fruits grabbed me by the neck the very first time I read it,” Cody previously said. “It’s one of the craziest, most creative, beautifully bonkers projects I’ve ever worked on. I feel so lucky to be collaborating with Meredith and Lily, who have become heroes of mine in short order. “
Producers on Forbidden Fruits include Mason Novick, Diablo Cody, Trent Hubbard, and Mary Anne Waterhouse. Charlie Traisman and Katherine Romans are executive producing for Madhouse Films, alongside Casey Durant and Rachel Douglas from Range Media Partners.
