First-Person Horror Mystery Game ‘Charon’s Staircase’ Launches October 28 for PC, Consoles

Wondering about just when Indigo Studios’ X-Files-esque Charon’s Staircase will launch? The devs said back in June that the game was going to arrive next month. We never got an answer last month when the game made an appearance at Gamescom, but today’s the day. The game’s publisher SOEDESCO has announced that Charon’s Staircase will launch on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store on October 28.

Charon’s Staircase takes place in the 1970s (hence the 70s Central European era atmosphere), involving a totalitarian regime known as The Ministry. The Ministry is looking to leave behind its days of brutal rule over the populace and join the European Union. Of course, in order to do so, they have to “clean up” some things.

You play as an agent codenamed “Desmond,” who has been sent by The Ministry to find and destroy classified documents from the Oack Grove estate that would serve as evidence of The Ministry’s past. However, you soon discover Project Alpha, a rather unpleasant secret that The Ministry is keen on keeping under wraps. Now you’ve got to survive this hellish nightmare you’ve stumbled into, and escape Oack Grove’s horrors.
