Fan Demakes ‘Resident Evil 6’ Using PS1 Era Graphics and Controls [Video]

Ever wonder what Resident Evil 6 would be like if it stayed closer to the series’ traditional Survival Horror roots? Thanks to Rustic Games BR, you no longer have to with the recent release of their demake of Resident Evil 6 that takes things back (way back) to the PS1 era.

While once again, the game isn’t available for download, it’s another case of a fan project that goes the extra mile with great results. While it uses Resident Evil 2‘s sounds and music, the graphics were created by Rustic Games BR, with the game itself being created in Unity. All of the things you loved about the PS1-era Resident Evil games are here, including the fixed camera angles, classically chunky PS1-era graphics, and tank controls.

Rustic Games BR even appears to have implemented the RE6 partner AI, though it’s not clear if they got as far as implementing partner commands like in the original game. Still, what’s here is downright awesome.

Rustic Games BR isn’t a stranger to pulling off these demakes. They’ve done several of them prior to this, including one earlier this year with a Dead Space demake being done in the style of Dino Crisis.

Big thanks to the folks at Residence of Evil for showcasing this one. You can find their video on the Resident Evil 6 PS1 demake here.
