As its Kickstarter page states, if you like the sound of playing as powerful undead revenants back from the grave to face the toxic nostalgia for their past, with a focus on breakneck action, interpersonal drama, and occult investigation, you should check out The Thunder Perfect Mind from Tanya Floaker. Currently in the last days of the campaign, this occult action thriller Tabletop RPG has already hit its goal, with several pledge goals still available.
Taking inspiration from film (notably Twin Peaks, Dark City and Lost Highway), poetry, comics and goth music, The Thunder Perfect Mind casts you as a Tethered Aeon, a revenant with powerful supernatural abilities. Together with up to six other players, you form a Mystery Cult dedicated to resolving the toxic nostalgia for your past life. This task grows harder and harder as you become embroiled in the deadly politics and occult mysteries of the Archons and the Terrestrial Courts.
There as several rewards available for backers, both physical and digital. Obviously, there’s the game zine itself, containing art by Strega Wolf van den Berg (Lichoma, I Don’t Belong Here, Metastasis//Firestarter), along with setting info, rules, and summary sheets to help during play.
There’s also the accompanying soundtrack by Dublin-based producer/performer Molly Noise, which you can grab either as a digital single track, or a full digital EP.
Floaker is already planning a series of supplemental books for The Thunder Perfect Mind. Rather than requiring a certain level of funding to unlock each additional book, the number produced will be tied to demand.
