‘Evil Dead Rise’ Director Teases More Auditory Nightmares! [Video]

“Something “Evil” this way comes,” jokes Lee Cronin, director of Evil Dead Rise, the fifth film in the Evil Dead franchise.

Cronin has been teasing fans throughout production, often sharing snippets from outside the closed doors of post-production. Over the weekend he offered yet another taste of the audio mix, seemingly a stinger placed around a demonic/deadite presence? What do you think it is?

The new Evil Dead movie from New Line Cinema is rated “R” for, “Strong bloody horror violence and gore, and some language.”

No release is slated, although it’s being made for HBO Max. Watch this spot for official news as it comes in.

By the time it’s released this year, Evil Dead Rise will be the franchise’s first movie in just under 10 years, following in the wake of Fede Alvarez’s Evil Dead 2013 and course, the Starz series “Ash vs. Evil Dead” that brought Bruce Campbell back into the mix.

Here’s the official plot synopsis for Evil Dead Rise

“In the fifth Evil Dead film, a road-weary Beth pays an overdue visit to her older sister Ellie, who is raising three kids on her own in a cramped L.A apartment. The sisters’ reunion is cut short by the discovery of a mysterious book deep in the bowels of Ellie’s building, giving rise to flesh-possessing demons, and thrusting Beth into a primal battle for survival as she is faced with the most nightmarish version of motherhood imaginable.”

Gabrielle Echols (Reminiscence), Morgan Davies (The End) and Nell Fisher (Splendid Isolation) will star in the new movie alongside Alyssa Sutherland and Lily Sullivan.

Sam RaimiBruce Campbell and Robert Tapert are producing Evil Dead Rise. According to Campbell, the three have been “very involved” in the project every step of the way.
