Ethan Hawke (The Black Phone) and Orlando Bloom (The Lord of the Rings) will star in the jungle thriller The Last of the Tribe, Variety reports.
Claudio Borrelli is directing from a script by Mark Bailey (Downfall: The Case Against Boeing), based on investigative journalist Monte Reel‘s 2010 novel.
Set in the Amazon rainforest, the film follows William Phelan (Hawke), a washed-out Chicago cop turned corporate gun-for-hire, who is sent to investigate a death. During his mission, he encounters the last surviving member of an Indigenous tribe.
Indigenous Brazilian activist Zaya Guarani will also star.
Academy Award winner Edward Saxon (The Silence of the Lambs) is producing alongside Steve Schwartz and Paula Mae Schwartz for Chockstone Pictures, Mark Bailey, and Ethan and Ryan Hawke. O2 Filmes’ Fernando Meirelles (City of God) serves as executive producer.
Protagonist Pictures is launching sales ahead of the European Film Market in Berlin next month.
