As John previously noted, Adam Robitel‘s Escape Room has nicely positioned itself as a sort of Saw-lite franchise, delivering PG-13 thrills with deadly traps in cleverly designed rooms. Robitel is back for this year’s Escape Room: Tournament of Champions, which Sony is releasing in theaters July 16.
“In the next installment, six people unwittingly find themselves locked in another series of escape rooms, slowly uncovering what they have in common to survive…and discovering they’ve all played the game before.”
Taylor Russell and Logan Miller are back from Robitel’s first Escape Room, starring in the new movie alongside Indya Moore, Holland Roden, Thomas Cocquerel, and Carlito Olivero.
In this second clip from the film, the “champions” are trapped in a bank-themed room that’s rigged with a laser system that calls to mind the scene in the very first Resident Evil. Will they solve the puzzle in time or end up in pieces?
