Showtime‘s hit series “Yellowjackets” is getting ready to begin production on Season 2, and Deadline reports today that Elijah Wood (Maniac) has joined the ensemble cast!
Deadline details, “Elijah Wood will play Walter, a dedicated citizen detective who will challenge Misty (Christina Ricci) in ways she won’t see coming.”
The role is said to be a “season-long guest arc.”
Announced last week, Lauren Ambrose (“Servant”) is playing adult Van in Season 2. And Simone Kessell (“Obi-Wan”) is playing the adult version of Lottie.
The series was created by Ashley Lyle & Bart Nickerson (“Narcos”), described as being “equal parts survival epic, psychological horror story and coming-of-age drama.”
Chatting with Variety, the team recently promised “Yellowjackets” Season 2 will take us into a harsh winter, suggesting we’re in store for an even more horrifying second season.
“Yellowjackets is the saga of a team of wildly talented high school girls soccer players who become the (un)lucky survivors of a plane crash deep in the remote northern wilderness. The series chronicles their descent from a complicated but thriving team to savage clans, while also tracking the lives they’ve attempted to piece back together nearly 25 years later, proving that the past is never really past and what began out in the wilderness is far from over.”
