‘Elden Ring’ Sales Top 12 Million; Potential IP Expansion Beyond Games

So, in case you were just wondering how From Software is doing with Elden Ring, the developer has released some handy stats for the Soulslike’s sales. As you might expect, it’s been a smash hit.

According to From Software, total worldwide shipments and digital sales for Elden Ring have surpassed 12 million units across PC, PlayStation and Xbox. In their native Japan, the game has sold over one million units.

“It’s astonishing to see just how many people have been playing Elden Ring,” says Elden Ring Director and From Software President Hidetaka Miyazaki. “I’d like to extend our heartfelt thanks on behalf of the entire development team. We hope players enjoy a high level of freedom when adventuring through its vast world, exploring its many secrets and facing up to its many threats.”

So of course, you’re probably wondering if the game will be receiving any postlaunch content. While the message from the developer doesn’t necessarily indicate that DLC is coming (let’s be honest: it will), the announcement teases that Elden Ring as an IP will be “expanding beyond the realm of games”. Whether this means a film adaptation or TV series remains to be seen.

Elden Ring is out now on Steam, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One and the Xbox Series.
