Lights Out, Annabelle: Creation, and Shazam! director David F. Sandberg is headed back to the horror genre with Below, a mysterious thriller announced by Deadline tonight.
Greg Weidman and Geoff Tock wrote the spec script, which has been acquired by Netflix for Sandberg to direct. James Wan is also on board to produce the movie.
Below is being described as a genre thriller, with no plot details at this time.

Deadline notes, “Insiders say the package had half a dozen studios and streamers in the mix for it with sources saying the the spec sold in the low seven-figures range.”
James Wan and Michael Clear will produce through Atomic Monster. Sandberg and Lotta Losten for are producing for Mangata, with Roy Lee also producing for Vertigo.
