‘Dark Souls’-Inspired TTRPG ‘Doomspiral’ Launches Kickstarter

Touted as a love letter to Elden Ring, Dark Souls and other works of mythic dark fantasy, SoulMuppet Publishing recently launched its Kickstarter for Doomspiral, a new tabletop RPG by Nick Spence, with additional writing by Zachary Cox, and illustrations by Dwyn D’Alton Goode. The Kickstarter has already hit its funding goal, but there are still plenty of rewards for specific pledge totals.

Doomspiral is described as a game of “desperate violence in a wasted land, of gods no better than people and people with the potential to be gods, and of the struggle to wrestle the future from chains of fate.” Before long the world will be dust. It is up to you, the Forsaken, to reforge the Loom of Fate and either reestablish order or bring this dying world to a swift, clean end.

Drawn from the dark fantasy creations of Hidetaka Miyazaki (again, Dark Souls), the core Rulebook for Doomspiral begins with the rules and character creation (with 36 potential godslayers), then details the Dying Lands of Weftenhaal with an enormous campaign filled with literally hundreds of bespoke souls-inspired monsters.

In addition to stretch goals, players can choose to their pledge amount based on which edition of the game they’d like to receive. This ranges from the base digital printout of the rulebook, all the way to a handmade 4-piece resin dice set from Runefable, a cloth world map and character sheet pad, as well as a physical hardcover copy of the Doomspiral core rule book (and a complimentary PDF).

As for stretch goals, they include additional quests and NPCs, and for those who are keen to create their own TTRPG, Nick and Zachary will offer to help players with writing tips on making your own monsters, regions and equipment.

Both the physical digital versions of Doomspiral are expected to ship in May 2026. And if you’re keen on getting a head start on your character, you can grab the quickstart guide from SoulMuppet’s website.
