Cult icon Udo Kier passed away on Sunday morning at the age of 81. A cause of death has not been revealed.
The German actor worked with a number of horror luminaries, including Dario Argento on Suspiria and Mother of Tears, John Carpenter on the “Masters of Horror” episode Cigarette Burns, Rob Zombie on Halloween and Grindhouse, and Andy Warhol and Paul Morrissey on Frankenstein and Dracula.
Kier’s extensive genre credits also include Blade, End of Days, Shadow of the Vampire, BloodRayne, Feardotcom, Puppet Master: The Littlest Reich, Brawl in Cell Block 99, Dragged Across Concrete, The Editor, The Theatre Bizarre, Mark of the Devil, Dracula 3000, Bacurau, and Iron Sky.
A frequent collaborator of Lars von Trier, Kier appeared in Melancholia, Dogville, Dancer in the Dark, Nymphomaniac: Vol. II, Breaking the Waves, “The Kingdom,” and more.
Among his other 250+ credits are Ace Ventura: Pet Detective, My Own Private Idaho, Armageddon, Johnny Mnemonic, Downsizing, American Animals, Barb Wire, and “Hunters.”
