‘Crazy Old Lady’ Trailer – Senile Woman Does ‘Misery’ in J.A. Bayona-Produced Shudder Film [Exclusive]

A man is forced to play along with a senile woman’s sadistic games in our exclusive trailer for Crazy Old Lady, which looks like a hagsploitation take on Misery.

The Spanish-language horror thriller premieres February 27 on Shudder.

In the film, Pedro gets a frantic plea from an ex-girlfriend to care for her senile mother, Alicia. What begins as a small favor quickly spirals into a living nightmare when Alicia refuses to let him go.

Carmen Maura (Volver, Witching & Bitching), Daniel Hendler, and Agustina Liendo star.

Screenwriter Martín Mauregui makes his feature directorial debut on the project, which is produced by filmmaker J.A. Bayona (The Orphanage, Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom).

“When I began my career with The Orphanage, Guillermo del Toro produced it on one condition: that I would sponsor another director in the future,” said Bayona. “I loved Mauregui’s script and it’s an opportunity to return to genre cinema, which I love. I approached the project to lend a hand, but I ended up producing.”

The Spanish-Argentine co-production hails from Películas La Trini, Primo Content, Mr Fields and Friends, Bambu Producciones, and La Unión De Los Ríos, with the participation of Amazon España.

Crazy Old Lady premiered at Fantastic Fest last year, where it won Best Director in the Horror Competition, and was official selection at the Sitges Film Festival.
