Catherine Zeta-Jones and Luis Guzmán Playing Morticia and Gomez in Tim Burton’s ‘Addams Family’ Series

It was officially announced in February that Tim Burton is headed to the small screen with a new live-action series centered on Wednesday Addams, coming soon from Netflix.

The series, which is simply titled “Wednesday,” will follow the beloved Addams Family character’s “spooky coming-of-age.” Eight episodes have been ordered up by Netflix.

Jenna Ortega (The Babysitter: Killer Queen, Scream) has signed on to star as Wednesday Addams, and today Netflix has confirmed that Luis Guzmán is playing Gomez Addams.

Additionally, Catherine Zeta-Jones will be playing Morticia Addams!

Both Guzmán and Zeta-Jones are listed as “guest stars” for the series, so expect the series to primarily focus on Wednesday with brief appearances from her iconic parents.

“Wednesday” is described as “a sleuthing, supernaturally infused mystery charting Wednesday Addams’ years as a student at Nevermore Academy.” It’s said to follow…

“Wednesday’s attempts to master her emerging psychic ability, thwart a monstrous killing spree that has terrorized the local town, and solve the supernatural mystery that embroiled her parents 25 years ago — all while navigating her new and very tangled relationships.”

Alfred Gough and Miles Millar (“Smallville”) are writing and showrunning. Burton is directing.

Wednesday Addams has most recently been played by Chloë Grace Moretz in 2019’s animated movie, and earlier in live-action by Lisa Loring on TV and Christina Ricci in the films.
