Fresh off her Oscar nomination and historic SAG Awards win for West Side Story, Ariana DeBose is now setting her sights on Kraven the Hunter, joining the cast of the feature film.
Deadline reports that Ariana DeBose will play Calypso in Sony’s Kraven the Hunter movie, with Aaron Taylor-Johnson (Avengers: Age of Ultron) recently cast to play the title character.
Deadline reminds, “[Calypso] is a voodoo priestess who utilizes magic potions, and besides being an adversary of Spider-Man, she is also the occasional partner and lover of Kraven.”
Wikipedia further details the Marvel character Ariana DeBose will be playing, “Calypso first appeared in Amazing Spider-Man #209 and was created by Denny O’Neil and Alan Weiss.”
J.C. Chandor (A Most Violent Year) is directing Kraven the Hunter.
Russell Crowe and Fred Hechinger will also star.
Kraven the Hunter is currently set for release on January 13, 2023.
The screenplay was written by Art Marcum & Matt Holloway and Richard Wenk.
