Ari Aster’s ‘Beau Is Afraid’ Rated “R” for Strong Violence and Graphic Nudity

The trailer for A24 and director Ari Aster‘s (Hereditary, Midsommar) new movie Beau Is Afraid debuted earlier this week, and today the film’s official MPA rating has been revealed.

Much like Aster’s two previous movies, Beau Is Afraid is rated “R” for…

“Strong violent content, sexual content, graphic nudity, drug use, and language.”

This one doesn’t appear to be a horror movie of any kind, mind you, but rather a “nightmare comedy” of sorts. A24 will be releasing Aster’s latest film in theaters on April 21, 2023.

Here’s the brand new plot synopsis…

“A paranoid man embarks on an epic odyssey to get home to his mother in this bold and ingeniously depraved new film from writer/director Ari Aster.”

Joaquin Phoenix, Nathan Lane, Amy Ryan, Stephen Mckinley Henderson, Hayley Squires, Denis Ménochet, Kylie Rogers, Armen NahapetianParker Posey, and Patti LuPone star.

A24 produced and financed the film, penned by Aster.

Aster and Lars Knudsen are producing for Square Peg.
