‘A Quiet Place’: Jeff Nichols No Longer Directing the Franchise’s Planned Spinoff Movie

A video game may be on the way, but one thing we won’t be seeing from the A Quiet Place franchise is the feature film that was to be directed by Jeff Nichols (Midnight Special).

As we learned last year, a third A Quiet Place movie was put into early development, with Nichols on board to direct some sort of spinoff tale based on an idea by John Krasinski.

Paramount Pictures has already dated the film for March 31, 2023, but Deadline reports tonight the surprising news that Jeff Nichols is no longer on board the project.

Deadline notes, “Sources add that the director is pivoting to focus on the Untitled Sci-Fi project he is also developing at Paramount, which the studio is very high on.”

Meanwhile, it’s expected that the Abbott family storyline will eventually become a trilogy with Krasinski recently teasing that he has ideas for the third film in the main series.
