Edgar Allan Poe‘s The Fall of the House of Usher gets a “poetically mesmerizing reimagining” with 3 Days Rising. Watch the trailer below.
The late Peter Greene (Pulp Fiction) stars in his final leading role alongside Ice-T (“Law & Order: Special Victims Unit”) and Mickey Rourke (The Wrestler).
Greene plays the tormented and mentally shattered Eric Usher. Battling his own conscience and reality itself, he must choose between family and his own salvation.
Life and death consequences hinge on Eric’s resolve and sanity as he navigates a world filled with strange interlopers climaxing in an explosively violent twist ending.
Kelly Monrow (“American Crime Story”), Vincent Young (“Beverly Hills, 90210”), Paul Ben-Victor (“The Wire”), Bo Dietl (The Wolf of Wall Street), Frank Whaley (Pulp Fiction), Fredro Starr (“Moesha”), Catherine Corcoran (Terrifier), Sticky Fingaz (“Blade: The Series”), and Renoly Santiago (Hackers) round out the cast.
Craig Cukrowski makes his feature directorial debut from a script by brother Derek Cukrowski.
The Cukrowskis produce along with Greene, Ice-T, Tim O’Brien, and Noel Ashman (Gotti).
“After Peter screened the latest cut, he called me in tears because he was so happy with it,” Craig Cukrowski told THR. “He oddly referred to it as the ultimate swan song, which I just blew off as Peter being Peter with hyperbole. He was very proud of the work.”
“Peter gave himself completely to this film — creatively, emotionally and spiritually,” O’Brien added. “Living on location throughout the shoot fostered a rare level of trust and intimacy that permeates every frame. 3 Days Rising is not only his final performance, but a lasting testament to who he was as an artist and as a human being.”
3 Days Rising is slated to debut on the festival circuit later this year.
“The Fall of the House of Usher” has been adapted for the screen several times of the years, most notably by Roger Corman in 1960 with Vincent Price and by Mike Flanagan in 2023 for Netflix.
