The Strangers has always been defined by three mysterious killers — Man in the Mask (later known as Scarecrow), Dollface, and Pin-Up Girl — but the recent reboot trilogy originally added two more to the rogues’ gallery.
Producer Courtney Solomon revealed to Dread Central that additional masked murderers known as Ghost Skull and Witch Face were filmed for the trilogy but cut out.
“There were actually in the original version two new Strangers that were actually shot and fully in the movies,” said Solomon. “One was called Ghost Skull. The other one was Witch Face. We filmed them. They’re going to be included in the extras.”
Dread notes that those extras are expected to be included with the supercut of The Strangers trilogy — combining all three parts into one long film — which Solomon is hoping to release in theaters before Digital and physical media.
“In redoing and working on these movies, the reshoots, the original stuff, whatever, we have so much deleted material,” Solomon added. “What I’ve pitched is we’d like to do a theatrical for those fans that want to enjoy it theatrically, do that for a week or two.”
The Strangers: Chapter 3 brings the trilogy to a close with a full-circle reckoning in theaters February 6 from Lionsgate.
Madelaine Petsch returns as Maya for the final girl’s long-awaited vengeance, locked on an unforgiving collision course with the masked killers.
Renny Harlin (Deep Blue Sea, Die Hard) once again directs from a script by Alan R. Cohen and Alan Freedland.
